What is wrong with the Sports Minister?

What is wrong with the Sports Minister? thumbnail

We are constrained to enquire what is going wrong with the Minister of Youth, Employment and Sports, Mr. Paul Kamara (in photo), owing to his over-zealousness or rather callous manner in which he translates government’s policy in football?

Mr. Kamara has overturned the discipline since he was made line Minister thus causing people that have been constantly following up to believe that he is poised to stage a revenge on the football family in Sierra Leone.

Even a toddler knows fully well that the world football governing body frowns at political interference into football. Every blessed day we hear unbelievable tales of how Paul Kamara makes unilateral decisions on how football is to be played across the country, yet we are content with keeping sealed lips.

Early this year, FIFA had to intervene in a brawl between the Sports Minister and the Football Association over the manning of the national team the Leone Stars.

Quite lately he has converted his dictatorial beam on canceling the scheduled date for the FA elections and taken a step further to dissolve the Executive Committee and exclude one of the presidential aspirants from taking part in the poll.

FIFA has warned that it is trying to establish all relevant facts regarding the Sports Minister’s decision to dissolve the SLFA and if this decision is anything to go by then it would constitute a clear governmental interference as enshrined in Act 13 and 17 of FIFA statutes.

The world football governing body has a zero tolerance for political interference and has therefore threatened to submit the issue to the competent FIFA body for discussion and potential sanction.

It’s really a pity that now that the nation is jollying over our gains made in the latest football ranking Paul Kamara is busy plunging a spanner in our hard earned achievement.

Could someone please tell the Sports Minister that the grudge he is harbouring over the issue between himself and the Tolla-Thompsom led SLFA that caused him to be imprisoned, should be bygone and intolerable and is therefore not allowed to creep into the football administration of this country.
