The High Court of Sierra Leone reopened Tuesday September 18th, after it was closed down for two months.  The ceremony was held at the St George’s Cathedral, George Street, Freetown in which a host of dignitaries of the Sierra Leone Judiciary such as the Chief Justice Umu Tejan Jalloh (in photo) were there to grace the occasion.  Chief Preacher, Rev H. Johnson highlighted the challenges facing the court system, especially the High Court.  He pleaded with lawyers to serve diligently without swaying Justice to the highest bidder, which has become common place of many practitioners.

While addressing colleagues, Lawyer and Jurors, Madam Umu Tejan Jalloh called on all present to demonstrate their loyalty to their sacred duty.  She warned that jurors who are absent will be probed as to why they missed such an important occasion.

Lawyer G.J. Soyie called on all five members of the Council to arraign the 150 file of cases for hearing by the High Court of Sierra Leone which constituted of 200 accused persons.
