The incumbent representing the All Peoples Congress (APC) in ward 374, Constituency 105, Councilor Abu A. Khanu aka Yankra has told this medium that his ward is peaceful and is keeping such spirit in the build up towards the November 17th elections.
He said a meeting of stakeholders was held in his ward over the weekend to strengthen the relationship between his constituents and the security sector that hosted the Inspector of Police representing the Eastern Police station Inspector Tejan.
He assures the general public that even though people describe the community as a violent one it is a thing of the past. He said his popularity and effort will ensure that no violence will be perpetrated by anybody within and outside his constituency as he has good relationship with his counterparts that contested against him in the community.
He further thanked the supporting NGOs and INGOs such as Concern Worldwide, Goal, Young Men Christian Association (YMCA), Save the Children International, for their prompt intervention in developing his ward and constituency and also in the fight against the cholera outbreak that claimed the lives of hundreds of people in the country recently
He said Concern Worldwide has just constructed a public toilet in the community including ACF who supplied the community with chlorine tablets for the chlorination of water and soap for hand washing to help prevent Cholera in the community.
He said they also embanked on community developmental programs to construct railings at three communities in King Polo, Magazine, and Mid Street supported by the YMCA
He said Hagan Street is one of the 30 km road construction projects that is on the agenda for prosperity of the president which will soon be commenced, adding that market women selling at the main street of Guard Street will adhere to and will show much concern and understanding as the street are for vehicles and pedestrians.
