Sierra Leone Police to Host International Confab thumbnail

The Sierra Leone Police Force (SLP) will be hosting a six days conference of the 7th African Contact Officers Network of Interpol in March 2013.

Director of Interpol Department, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mohamed Yansaneh. said that the meeting in Freetown will discuss and highlight many issues relating to the improvement and establishment of a central information and data system across the sub-region to assist in providing timely information amongst nations to aid investigation.

He added that the meeting will also look at building on the existing of good corporations with other security players and find ways to remove the many barriers in finding data with ease.

ASP Yansaneh also noted that his department is additionally going to host a six days workshop in Freetown the third week of December 2012, which will attract key players in the country’s security sectors, such as Immigration, Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority (SLRA), Prisons and Customs Departments, among others.

He added that the six day workshop will focus on sensitization on the theme, ‘The values of information sharing,’ so that they will have one voice on automated information system sharing. He continued that Interpol has also secured a training program for some Sierra Leone Police Officers in Ivory Coast, adding that the first batch will leave 10th December.  The training will be on investigative skills and transnational crime, and is sponsored by the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime.
