His Excellency the President will visit a number of chiefdoms during his two-day official visit to Kailahun district, including the Kissi Teng chiefdom where he is expected to address the people.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Local Government has recently completed Paramount chieftaincy elections to fill vacancies in all chiefdoms except in Kissi Teng.
As has been well publicized almost all the elections were embroiled in controversy with accusations of political interference by APC government functionaries. Kissi Teng is among them and their matter is before the courts.
Is it prudent for his Excellency to visit that chiefdom and to address his people?
The President is the Fountain of Honour and Justice; the deputy Internal Affairs Minister Kabia and the former Minister of Health Sheku Koroma have featured prominently in the Kissi Teng affair.
Would it not be wise and appropriate for the Minister of Local Government to advise the President to cancel his planned visit to the chiefdom?
Would such a visit not be construed as canvassing for the alleged APC candidate of former Minister Koroma? It is worth serious consideration …
