Politics is all about numbers and I don’t care how you do it. It’s also a win/win situation, leave it or take it. If you lose, accept defeat and try to reconcile faithfully and not deceitfully. I have met with many political opportunists here in North America and around the world that are very negative, fickle and narrow minded. They moan about seemingly everything and walk around with the weight of the world on their shoulders.
Many political sycophants today, are also like that until 2007. In 2010 at this age, I want us all to have a new approach to life and enjoy politics. Let’s be friends, political alliance and move our party and its political ideologies forward to win the 2012 general election.
For those first two years after the general election-2007, I was forever feeling sorry for my political party I support. My friends and other political comrades, all appeared to have so much more than me. Paradoxically, our political life has been one long hard struggle, compared to the SLPP. In 2008, we were caught up in a web of negativity and needed someone or a propaganda online news outlet to help us escape the pessimism, but we fought back relentlessly and dominated positively the political propaganda around the globe. Thanks to my good APC die-hard friends.
At the APC Ohio Convention, during an afternoon session, aged as I say sixty-two, a brother and as a colleague, we took a leisurely walk down the corridor with and he started to talk to me. And what he said to me during this privileged conversation was shocking and death-defying. On the other hand, his words have profound effect on my future. These were the exact words he said to me:
“There are some individuals among you, who always think in a negative way no matter what progressive you fellows are; they have the right to be depressive , aren’t they?”
I said in a shocked voice as I believed I was no different to anybody else. He continued:
“Yes they are. They very rarely smile, they are negative about most issues, no one else should win except themselves and they always seem to be carrying the world on their shoulders. Back-biting and bickering is their daily sermon”.
Comrades, this man was aged around sixty-three and I allowed him to continue:
“I used to be like them and then I was given some advice, of which I am now going to pass on to you for your future political career. I want everyone to know that, if anyone feels down, depressed or sorry for his/herself, it will be prudent to read a newspaper or watch the news on the television. Then these individuals may then realize that they are in fact one of the lucky ones.” He concluded.
Upon my arrival back in Maryland, I had a long thought about what my sixty–two years old mentor had said to me in Ohio. If it left with me, I had never been a big reader or watcher of the news, but I had decided to give it a go, be politically positive and be a happy supporter. The advice he gave me was totally correct, the news from around the world and even my own country was quite shocking. Corruption, deceitfulness and political bickering are the other of the day. I realized that the worries I had for our political leadership, were actually quite trivial and that people needed to cherish the good work of our political leaders’ everyday and start to look on the bright side of the people’s lives. We have to stay politically positive in North America for us to be happy.
