As the leadership race for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) gains momentum, a very young and dynamic member, Reverend Joseph Gaima Lukulay Moiba is reported to have entered the race.
According to some SLPP members, he has a clean and impressive political background with vast experience in peace making in Sierra Leone during and after the eleven year old civil war.
“He is cheerful and accommodating, un-assuming and trustworthy, but strict and principled. He is so far the youngest among all those that have declared their intentions,†state on SLPP member.
Rev. Joe Moiba has served as a school teacher, a religious Minister, Adjunct supervisor for peace and civil education during the war in Sierra Leone and is a researcher in sociological methods, psychology, Education and Peace making in Sierra Leone. Joe Moiba has been able to establish a cordial or mutual relationship with the grassroots throughout the regions. As a party activist, the young gentleman is the brain behind the formation of a organization called MUCOD with a view of develop the entire Sierra Leone through grassroots participation. This organization was also very instrumental in the last presidential and parliamentary election working for the Sierra Leone People’s Party in the North, South and East. With the wealth of experience accumulated over the years while working as a religious minister and political activist dealing with youth, men and women, traditional leaders from various ethnic backgrounds, Reverend Joe Moiba has been encouraged to vie for the leadership of one of the oldest political parties in the sub-region.
