Is the APC Party Resorting to its Old Dirty Tricks of Exterminating its Supporters?

Author: SEM Contributor

History is about to repeat itself.  As S.I. Koroma once said, “When you allow a baboon to go upstairs, the first sign of gratitude it will show to those that lifted it, is its red buttocks.”  This saying is reminiscent of the present APC party whose evil machinations and old dirty tricks of exterminating the nine chapters of APC North America Branch is spear-headed by APC Secretary General, Victor Foh and Ambassador Bockarie Stevens.

These acts of ingratitude by the APC in the past has sent many to their early graves and for those who survived the ordeals are left with no alternatives but to form splinter groups or joined other political party of their choice.   Is the APC party not learning from the demise of the SLPP party because certain partisans were aggrieved and decided to abandon the party?    Is President Ernest Koroma playing it safe because he is in power and he is no more dependent on the “power of the purse” of APC North America to usher him to victory?  Mr. President, if you allow Victor Foh and Bockarie Stevens to mislead you on the present situation of APC North America, then you are treading on dangerous ground.

Gratitude is the oil in the machinery of great and good leaders.  Learning to be grateful to those who supported you when you needed them is an essential virtue to an effective and prudent leader and even more important in Sierra Leone that is undergoing the transition from relatively authoritarian to democratic regimes.  On the contrary, with the present trend of events in the APC North America which Victor Foh and Bockarie Stephens are conspicuously and surreptitiously destroying, achieving victory and support in the foreseeable future is farfetched.

As the saying goes, “don’t bite the hand that feeds you,” this literally means harming someone who has been helping you.  It is a great disservice to bite the hand that feeds when you needed help.  If we forget that a person has been doing something to help us, especially in times of need then we are harming the relationships that once existed.

As humans we need to make sense of what can be bewildering variety of life experiences.  Life is not particularly consistent.  Happiness comes one day, sorrow the next.  It can be easy sometimes to forget to express the appreciation we feel for the little day to day things that happen in our lives and many overlook the blessings we have received from our respective supporters and those in our circle of influence.

The multitude of challenges facing war-ravaged Sierra Leone includes improving education, health care, adequate housing, reconciliation, agriculture, peace and stability, and so forth. These challenges cannot be met without the active participation of citizens – yea Diasporans. Active participation of the APC North America partisans is impossible if people like Mr. Victor Foh and Bockarie Stevens continue to manipulate a democratically elected organization like the APC, North America where they should have used their judicious and prudent judgments to resolve the problem amicably.   Instead they chose to use a totalitarian and archaic method of imposing an unconstitutional method that has left a united North America APC divided.

Sierra Leoneans should try not to be sleeting awful leaders. If Sierra Leoneans continue to encourage terrible leadership, the nation of Sierra Leone will hardly secure the development she is contending for. Sierra Leoneans should be allowed to discuss their concerns in any forum at anytime, which may perhaps help change dreadful politicians. If politicians go unchallenged even when they engage in shoddy tricks, they will take it as a pleasure to continue upsetting their citizens. Change can only transpire when people go against unethical behavior. If there is no protest, there is no change. Therefore, protest is a mechanism of change. If newspapers can write against heads of state (presidents) why fear to write the truth about fiends such as the National Secretary General of the All People’s Congress, Mr. Victor Foh and Ambassador Bockarie Stevens?  If SLPP is criticized almost every day, why not criticize APC leaders whenever they misstep? Who are Mr. Victor Foh and Bockarie Steven that should not be reminded of their dissipated performances?   Think about the founders of the APC party who are not alive now, yet the party is alive. Assuming that the name APC is forever, why not engage in doing things that may perhaps improve on political development?

By muzzling the seven chapters of APC North America and imposing five chapters to carry out the functions of a formidable body is an act exterminating well meaningful partisans to the detriment of the APC government.  Mr. Victor Foh and Bockarie Stevens are not only violating the human rights of  the seven chapters of the APC North America Branch, but also denying them the opportunity for them to participate in the democratic process towards solving the multitudes of problems facing that war-ravaged country.

Youngman, I admire at this conversation because it really has appealing facts. As a political medical commentator, your writings are at times very interesting, though I at times disagree with some of them. But that is all what life is craving for: either you agree to later disgree or you disagree to agree. Remember that I am always interested in following up with your articles because they appear very politicaly informative.
