Rupert Palmer, Sierra Leone
African Internet Radio (A.I.R.) - formerly Sierra Leone Radio - the world's
first online radio station dedicated to spreading the wide range
of Sierra Leonean music to a global audience - announces a massive
leap in audience listening figures for the first quarter of 2008.
African Internet Radio has been bringing a wide variety
of music from Sierra Leone and the rest of Africa to over 20,000
listeners every month - and is now rated as the second most popular
African orientated online station on the popular iTunes radio directory.
Founded in 2003 by Rupert Palmer, former manager of Freetown's
first private commerical FM station - ABC FM 94 - A.I.R. continues
to break new grounds by offering any budding Sierra Leonean DJ the
chance to broadcast to a global audience, from the comfort of their own computer.
"We developed a unique system of broadcasting which allows anybody with a
desire to entertain the masses - a chance to broadcast on a global
scale" - Rupert reports.
"We are also forging close working relationships with some of the top roadcasters
in the African orientated radio industry" - he continues.
African
Internet Radio is looking to expand further by linking up with Sierra Leone based radio stations - with an internet connection.
"We have a wide variety of top notch programmes that
we feel Sierra Leoneans without computer access would love to tune
into - whilst providing the stations with a real unique advantage over
their competitors".
