Gender Issues
Teenage pregnancy is a phenomenal issue in the context
of natural development
Teenagers are youths between ages of 13-19 years and their role to society
is very much important as they are the backbone of future societal development.
Although
this issue of teenage pregnancy is considered a trivial one, it destroys most young girls and leads to the habit of prostitution.
This is the most devastating habit in a society/community. Once these young adults are caught up with it,
then roles are shifted from improving livelihood of the community. Why Prostitution? Most young girls/adults go into prostitution
due to a number of reasons some of which are:-
1.
The community in which they live.
2. Peer pressure.
3. Lack of guidance from the family.
4.
Lack of religious institution amongst teenagers.
These are the most important
factors that contribute to the rapid increase of prostitution in our communities. Most girls within the ages of 15-18 are
seriously attracted to community displays, friendship and social life.
Teenage
sex improves the chances of growth of the HIV/AIDS epidemic as we all know HIV/AIDS is the worst ailment in the world. This
is a risk and it damages a lot in society, youth groups and other institutions. HIV/AIDS as we all know is a killer disease
and one needs to beware of the disease and also be protected from it. Below are some of my own recommendations!
1. Our
communities must reconstruct themselves so as to decrease their display in relation
to
early sex.
2. The families must guide the off spring on
all aspects of good morale.
3. The religious
institutions must demonstrate concern in this aspect of the bad effect of
prostitution.
These are some highlighted ways of solving this problem within our society
and if we try and practice them we shall see the fall in prostitution and also HIV/AIDS. This might also increase the standard
of living and life expecting in Sierra Leone.
