Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPPP) Georgia Branch Meeting October 4, 2008

 

Venue:  The Westin Atlanta Airport 4736 Best Road, Atlanta, GA 30337

Chairman of Meeting – Dr. Michael Lahai Rogers (Vice Chair) in the absence of Dr. Mohamed Bayhor

Observer - Musa Kamara; Organizing Secretary SLPPNA

 

Mr. Musa Kamara, in his opening remarks,  as an observer stated that a new Executive was formed in August of this year and as Organizing Secretary part of his job is to find out how chapters are doing and to encourage them to undertake membership drives.

 

Mr. Kamara commented on quality of  members present at the meeting and that only a  few committed members is all the Party needs to move forward. He will report to the Federation the outcome of the meeting and executive members elected.

 

He advised that as an opposition party we need to continue to encourage those that were not able to make it to today’s meeting. Included as part of his work is the ability to recruit members and set an inauguration date for the Georgia chapter.

 

Dr. Rogers as chairman of the meeting thanked Mr. Kamara for his coming to Georgia especially at this time of financial difficulty. He stressed that for any party to be successful members have to be committed.

 

The following positions were filled:

 

Chair – Dr. Augustine J. Smith

Vice Chair- Dr. Michael L. Rogers

Secretary General – Ms. Jeneba Koroma

Financial Secretary – Mr. Ahmed Banya

Treasurer - Mrs. Nyambe Miatta Smith

Organizing Secretary – Mr. David Musa

Social Secretary – Mr. Martin Berewa

Youth Leader – Mr. Patrice Kamanda

Adviser – Mr. Patrick Goba

 

Mr. Musa Kamara congratulated the new executive and looked forward to working with them. He advised all to take positions not for the sake of positions but to be committed and that he see the values in those present and said “lets us talk the talk and walk the walk.”
