David Tam-Baryoh contests
for SLAJ Secretary General Position
The Executive director of Center for Media, Education and Technology-Met,
who is also Director for Citizen Radio and yet to come on air Eagle Radio, Africa; David Tam-Baryoh will contest for the secretary
general position during the SLAJ elections scheduled for November 29, 2008.
According to Mr. Baryoh; “I
have studied the other candidates and viewed keenly the leadership acumen and qualification of every one of them. To my humble
mind, our association, with special reference to that position, is better handled by some one like me. And through the votes
of my colleagues, I will be given the mandate to serve my fellow journalists”
David Tam-Baryoh
was Secretary General of SLAJ in 1997 before resigning to work with the Media Foundation for West Africa in Ghana. In July
this year, he was quoted as saying that he was interested in the presidency of the association. To this he says:
“personally I asked
Mr. Philip Neville to contest the presidency, so I should not be fighting with my own candidate. The other candidates are
good, but Philip Neville is the best”.
Though many have seen this latest move as intriguingly interesting, David
is not leaving anything to chance. He says he will embark on serious campaigns in the provinces next week and has appealed
to all colleagues to judge him by his leadership strength and what he has done so far for the media in Sierra Leone.
“Our
association needs restructuring for a better SLAJ. And I have all the time, quality and energy to do just that,”
he says.
I am presenting a wining team to my colleagues and would endeavor to kindly ask for their valued votes for
this dream and excellent willing servants to lead our association:
- For
president: Mr. Philip Neville
- For Vice president: Mr. Theo Nicol
- For
organizing secretary: Madam Hawa Coker
- For financial secretary: Madam Mariama Sesay
- For
publicity secretary: Mr. Edward Marrah
- For Assistant secretary: Mr. John Masuba and,
- For
SECRETARY GENERAL: MR. DAVID TAM-BARYOH

MR. DAVID TAM-BARYOH
FOR SECRETARY GENERAL
SIERRA LEONE ASSOCIATION OF JOURNALISTS
(SLAJ)
“…Restructuring
for a better SLAJ…”
