The newly appointed Head Coach of the Sierra Leone National Team, Ahmed Kanu,
has said that only unity can bring back the country's lost glory, adding that in order to produce positive results for
the national team they should work collectively as a united force.
Speaking to Sierra Express Sport over the weekend,
the former Leone Stars Captain said it would be very difficult to produce good results when there is no co-operation from
the players and supporters and managers of the team.
He said that as Head Coach he intends to take the team to
another level during the 2010 World Cup and Nations Cup campaigns in South Africa and Angola respectively.
He said
he was very happy with the co-operation and high morale of the players as they are very respectful and training hard.
"We
can make it in that group," he said, stressing that playing Nigeria and South Africa will help expose many of Sierra
Leone's wonder kids. "We can beat both teams if only we are united and work collectively,” he predicted.
Meanwhile
both the Head Coach and his Assistant, Obi Metzger, have already started effective training with the home-based players yesterday
at the SLFA grounds.
He urged all players to remember the code of conduct which instructs all players
to be disciplined at all times both on and off the pitch of play. "I will never tolerate any unsportmanship behavior
from any player," he maintained.
