Mabella Youths get Worried

The slum hangout of Marbella youths

Youths in the Mabella community are becoming very frustrated as majority of them are destitute and making a living is very difficult for them. Sierra Express has learned that a good number of the youths are languishing as they lack jobs and other means to raise income.

Abu Sesay, a resident of the community said that about three hundred and forty two homeless youths are sleeping on market tables in the community as they have no rooms and as a result about ninety four of them have died from various diseases associated to exposure and eighty two are presently admitted at a hospital.

Soriba Sesay, the Chairman for the Mabella Youth Cleaners Organization (MYCO) said most of the young men and women just idle about, indulging on petty crime, sex and drug abuse. The youth appealed to Government and non governmental organizations to help them alleviate their situation.
