Barmoi Luma Suspended

Reports reaching Sierra Express have revealed that the most popular market day in the Northern Province (BARMOI LUMA) has been suspended for reasons not properly explained.

According to sources, the Ministry of Trade has been involved in border control strategy for food items produced in the country not to be transported to neighboring countries. It is for this reason; as alleged, that the Barmoi market day has been suspended. It is reported that the people and even the member of parliament of that area is not pleased with the present situation. The MP is making all efforts for the reopening of the market day. Our sources say that the MP believes that his people rely very greatly on that market day so he will not allow it to close down.

Meanwhile, following the seizeure of three hundred and eighty six (386) jelly cans and twelve drums of palm oil that was seized on Monday 4th February 2008, authorities concerned have agreed that the palm oil be sold at Barmoi at fifty thousand Leones per five gallon. Police sources say that this was in agreement with the owners of the palm oil led by one Musu Sheriff of Mattru Jong.
