Tennis Lacks Equipment - Jenny Wright

The National Tennis Coach, Mr. Jenny Wright, has divulged to this press that though tennis is an internationally known game, it is not treated with seriousness in Sierra Leone. Speaking to Sierra Express Sports, the National Tennis Coach, Jenny Wright said that past governments have always turned deaf ears to tennis. He said that it is for that reason talents are not tapped.

Government must add more attention on tennis to make it more competitive and interesting.  In the past Sierra Leone has won international competitions but lack of attention on the part of past governments has made the game very unpopular the coach said with anger.

A senior National Player, Mannah Bangura, said he has not seen any means of encouragement in the game since he chose it to be his own sport. He said that the Football cliché in the country is leading to the neglect of all other sports even athletics. According to him, there is not the deserved morale in playing the game. Equipments are lacking and competitions are not organized for improvement in the game.

The coach informed this press that it is because of the lack funds that players are not competing internationally. Mr. Wright, through this media appeals to government for more attention on tennis.
