Police Illegality, Political Detention of SLPP Rev. Chambers

Waterloo Police, detained Rev. David Chambers over land matters originating from the Johnny Bay Beach resort. APC youths related to Task Force Aid, allegedly allied to the Inspector General of Police, Brima Acha Kamara rampaged on the private property of Rev. Chambers of the SLPP.

Intervention

It is clear that land law requires civil litigation for the rightful determination of ownership. In the unfolding of Johnny Bay Beach case where the Inspector General is directly connected and concerned, he, (Brima Acha Kamara), has assumed the role of Lands Magistrate, Prosecutor and Prisons Officer.

Inspection

Personally one aviated himself to have a conducted inspection of Johnny Bay Beach property of Rev. Chambers, which makeshift structure was vandalized and inhabitants chased out of the location. The Task Force of annex property of Inspector General allegedly, according to report, destroyed property, felled palm trees in the locality to ward off any resistance to illegal action.

The splendid beach area is said to be grabbed for a Sierra Leonean based in Philadelphia, USA and the police are very interested in the matter.

Political Police

Since the installation of the APC regime, the Sierra Leone Police has transformed itself into a political task force where Human Rights Abuses are shelved in favor of political consideration. Police officers are not happy with the nature interference of their official duties with the order from the above and instruction tampering with professionalism.

Police officers are demoted and/or transferred as long as they fail to illegal directives. At the Waterloo Police Station the Local Unit Commander and Patrol Commander reportedly carried out illegal orders for the IG to detain Rev. Chambers without bail as his lawyer was away to Moyamba

Contested

It could be recalled that David Chambers contested for Parliament in Constituency 101, (Goderich area) under the SLPP symbol but was massively Christiana Thorped. Since then all hell has broken loose on him - first it was Al-Sheik Kamara and Kelly who trespassed on a portion of his Angola Town, Goderich and now it is alleged that their boss Acha Kamara is bent on taking a one town lot from him.

The Law

It is believed that this Police Inspector General knows the law and may not like to be seen violating it at any instance. His political persuasion (the APC naturally) cannot be deterred, but he should be seen misdirecting justice and embarrassing his officers.

Police campaign of intimidation, harassment and/or outright blackmail on selected SLPP guys will not work. The reversal of our democratic culture can be a fail done mission. There are a lot of people to jail in this country and no one fears imprisonment, death threats, murder or whatever dastardly and diabolic plans from the other side just because they are in power. No one is appealing for an attitude change in the police - let them just vegetate at the expense of the tax payers.

The rule of law has to be obeyed and the Inspector General has to comply with that concept even though he wants to believe otherwise. I hope he is reading this and understanding at the same time!
