Chief Rapes
14 yr old girl at Calaba Town
Chief John Bundu, of No15c Main Road Calaba Town, is being
alleged to have sexually abused a 14 year old girl in the same community. Sergeant Abubakarr Kanu, head of the Family Support
Unit (FSU) at Calaba Town police station, confirmed to Sierra Express that Chief Bundu is alleged to have made it
his usual habit to have sex with the 14 year old girl. He said according to investigations the incident at hand is not the
first time Chief Bundu has been having sex with the girl and that the girl’s virginity has been tampered with for a
very long time.
According to sergeant Kanu, the chief has been helping the police in the investigation
for the past five days. He said, the delay to send the case to court is pending on a medical report that has been stocked
along the line.
It is believed that the parents of the child have not been able to foot the
hospital bills and the police have advised them to contact the Red Cross or other NGOs that will help them.
The Police
source further revealed that Chief Bundu has not been granted bail because it is suspected that he may interfere with the
police witnesses. Sources close to the family reveal that Chief Bundu has offered Le 1 million to father of the child.
According
to one police woman at the FSU (name withheld), this act is on the increase and if serious actions are not put in place it
will soon be rampant and will bring social problems in the long term. She said that some police officers are conniving with
parents and offenders to always treat the cases as not serious and that is giving negative signals.
According
to the girl (victim), Chief Bundu promised her a Samsung flip-up cell phone and that is the reason she gave in to him. She
confided with Sierra Express that she was not happy to have any sexual relationship with Chief Bundu and that has
made her ashamed of herself in the community.
Talking to a concerned citizen at Calaba Town, one Fatmata
R. Kamara, said the Human Rights Organizations should immediately help this poor girl as she suspects that the case is about
to be swept under the carpets. She has asked Sierra Express to help in monitoring the said case at the police station.
