Woman Deprived of Heritage

At Maseneh Village, Magbema Chiefdom in the Kambia District, one Marie S. Kamara has shown her depression by making complaint against her sister-in-law, Ya Mayaelie Conteh, to a local NGO called United for the Protection of Human Rights (UPHR).

In her complaint to the UPHR, Marie Kamara told workers that Ya Mayealie Conteh is the elder sister of her late husband, Foday Conteh. She said that this woman is making all efforts to prevent her inherit the properties of her late husband.

According to officials of the UPHR, Ya Mayealie has been invited to their office and has refused to go; instead she sent a message that the NGO is not a law enforcement body. Later though, Ya Mayealie reported to the town Chief. The Chief in turn accompanied her to the office of the UPHR. When the Chief reached the office a preliminary investigation was conducted and later officers of the NGO handed the matter to the Chief to continue searching ways of resolving the problem.
