Kambia plea for Security Attention

Reports from Kambia indicate that there has been a rampant spate of robberies. In a place called Kambia Checkpoint, there have been daily robberies of at least two robberies every day. The Local Unit Commander (LUC), Mustapha Kamara speaking to Sierra Express in Kambia, said that the police in this area are having severe accommodation problems.

He said that the police have not got a convenient building that can be used as an office and that this situation is seriously contributing to manning of the township by the police. This has made the police to be overstretched in dispensing their duty of securing life and property and that is the reason crime has risen in the township. “Imagine the police apprehending a thief without having a place to detain that thief; how horrible that will be,” the police chief said disgustedly.

The LUC said the robbers have possession of master keys which they use to separately open the doors of people when they have left for their private businesses.

However, Paramount Chief PC Bai Farama Bubu Ngbak at the Magbema Chiefdom, has consented to provide a piece of land for the construction of the police station.
