APC Aspirant Councilor for Ward 343 Speaks Out

As Local Government Elections are very close in Ward 343 in Constituency 95 in Koya Rural District, aspirant Councilor Rev. Moses Sheku Sesay of Kissi Town of former Waterloo displaced camp has been dilating on.

On his ambition, Rev. Moses Sheku Sesay narrated his brief history in 1996 as an Internal Displaced Person, (IDP) when the National Commission of Rehabilitation left them for resettlement at Kissy Pack Yard in Freetown.

During his resettlement in IDP Camp he was elected as Secretary General for the National Council of Displaced Persons for the seven camps in the Western Area, where he served as Community Health Supervisor.

During Rev. Sesay’s term in office he wrote projects for the homeless IDPs, and in one case they were fortunate to receive 350 bags of rice from the Senegalese group CSE, (a road construction company), which was distributed to the homeless IDPs.

The IDPs benefited also from a 40 foot container assignment of used clothing from Aja, an artist UNDP, which was distributed to the IDPs family heads in 2003.  They also benefited from National Commission for Social Action with the erection of public toilets and water wells in Kissi Town community.

Rev. Sesay said he was democratically elected as Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman and that he will apply to NaCSA for the construction of community centers, market police posts, etc.

The aspirant Councilor said that in 2005 he wrote a project on agriculture for the planting of cassava cutting, potato vein, and Okra, and it was approved.

The Ministry of Health and Sanitation provided working tools for the homeless IDPs, promised to provide skills training programmes for IDPs and refugees, e.g. Gara tie dyeing, carpentry, etc.

Rev. Sesay said if elected as a councilor he has further plans to do much more and on a larger scale than what he had done during the war as an IDP person.  He stated his concentration will mainly focus on health education, a vocational center, road construction, and employment.
