King Jimmy Youths Deny Defacing the President’s Portrait

 

King Jimmy Youths Organizations in Freetown have denied involvement in the destruction of the portrait of His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma, which was placed under the Cotton Tree in Freetown.

 

Recently, the picture of the President was destroyed and it was alleged that those involved where from the Peters Brook Market, at King Jimmy, in Central Freetown.

 

According to the current Chairman of the King Jimmy Youth Organization, Chernor Papa Kamara, none of them had reason to deface the picture of the president.

 

“How can we destroy the picture of the president who we sincerely support?” Papa asked, adding that the allegation was false and baseless.

 

He pointed out that one Ayo Cole, alias Six Finger, is trying to tarnish their character by making baseless allegations against them.

 

According to Inspector Musa, who is attached to Operations Department at the Central Police Station, there has been evidence that the defaulters came from King Jimmy.

 

A.S.P. J.J. Clarke, Operations Officer also attached to the Central Police Station has advised members of King Jimmy Youth organization to allow the police carry on with investigations because it is a serious crime to destroy State property, such as the portrait of the president. According to him there is a cordial relationship between himself and members of the organization.
