Saturday Cleaning has been Suspended until Further Notice

Deputy Internal Affairs, Minister Hon. Raymond Kabia has said that the last Saturday cleaning exercise has been suspended until further notice at the Ministry of Information conference room yesterday.

Mr. Kabia said the suspension of the cleaning exercise was as a result of the lack of funds.

The responsibility of cleaning the city has been placed in the hands of a private company, which is jointly owned by the Freetown City Council, the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO), and the National Power Authority (NPA), which will be supervised by the Ministry of Local Government in conjunction with the Freetown City Council for a period of 6 months.

Freetown is now divided into 13 zones as part of a permanent strategy for the cleaning of the city. The Minister thanked the Libyan Government for their continued support to the All Peoples Congress Government and urged the World Bank to help them in this drive.
