Youths to Get Jobs Soon

 

The Employment and Social Security Minister, Mr. Minkailu Mansaray, whilst speaking at the Youyi Building weekly press briefing, stated that his ministry will soon create more job opportunities for youths in the country.

 

Mr. Mansaray disclosed that his ministry has opened the doors of opportunity to ensure that it creates job for the youths by meeting with other stakeholders from different ministries and also private stakeholders.

 

He further stated that the ministry has resuscitated the labor exchanges in the whole country which he said are real opportunities for the creation of jobs which would be available for teaming youths, thereby eradicating unemployment among them.

 

To achieve this goal he has established a work permit committee including various sectors.  

 

He highlighted that the spirit of establishing the work permit regulatory that they create job opportunities for sierra Leoneans who have proven capability of assuming positions in various sectors.

 

In the area of foreigners that wish to work in the country, they must first apply outside the country through the Immigration Department or to the Labor and Employment Ministry for the committee to examine their applications as to not disadvantage Sierra Leoneans. 

 

The Minister noted that President Koroma has formed a Task Force headed by the Attorney General, a representative from the Trade Ministry, the Chief of Immigration, and the Employment Ministry, to review the laws relating to employment activities of foreign nationals bringing in cheap labor, consequently creating employment problems for the local youths. 

 

The Minister, however, stated the country is a signatory to protocols like the Mano River Union, the ECOWAS, and the West African Monitory Zone. These protocols require the mobility of goods, labor, and people within the sub region.
