Finance Ministry Signs UNDP Country Programme Action Plan
The Ministry
of Finance and Economic Development, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) office, has signed
the UNDP’s Ccountry Programme Action Plan (CPAP) at the Ministry’s conference room at the Youyi Building in Freetown.
In his
opening remarks, the acting development secretary John Sumailah said the action plan outlines the government and UNDP relationship
and strategy, a plan which aims at fostering development in Sierra Leone.
Making his statement,
the UNDP Country Director, Bernard Mokam, said the action plan is an elaborate cooperation framework for 2008-2010, which
was officially endorsed by government and development partners in February this year, to serve as a country-working document
saying that the plan identifies three key areas they are committed to, supporting the consolidation of the peace process.
He expressed
concern over marginalized groups in the country, especially young people.
Signing the document,
the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Dr. Richard Konteh, welcomed the idea, noting that it complements
government initiative.
He said the plan was not only limited to development but also finding ways
to strengthen the right foundation for sustainable growth and development.
The Deputy Minister
noted that the plan prioritizes the PRSP and other documents
