Foreign Investors Assured In Tongo

The newly elected Diamond Dealers chairman, Ibrahim Sorie Samura, has declared Tongo field an investor friendly haven.  This assurance was given in the wake of persistent complaints by investors of controversies on diamond transactions.  "It is of great concern to my executive to curb all forms of illicit transactions that is eroding the reputation of dealers in the mining industry" Samura said.

When our reporter asked how he intends to help tackle illicit transactions, Samura responded by saying that he has it in mind to create a task force that shall closely be working with the mines monitoring officers.  He said the task force will be as informants to the mines monitoring officers and will obviously serve as deterrent to bad business.

On protecting the interest of members of the association, Ibrahim Sorie Samura disclosed that the association will soon embark on registration of miners; agents and dealers with a complete database. "I want to start discouraging child miners and provide vocational training for those children that have been involved in mining.  Ibrahim Sorie Samura appealed to the Lower Bambara community to support his administration so that Tongo will directly benefit from its resources.
