Blind School Acting Head Master Denied Allegations

The Acting Headmaster of Milton Margai School for the Blind, Mr. A. J. Sandy, has denied allegations made against him that he has been misappropriating school funds and stated it is a machinated plot to pull him down. “This is the real picture of nowadays Sierra Leoneans. It is as if after the war, Sierra Leoneans have embarked on destroying fellow Sierra Leoneans by deliberately fabricating fictitious information on patriots,” the acting Head Master said.

After serving as deputy to the former headmaster, Mr. Sam Campbell, the former headmaster recommended the acting headmaster to become the headmaster as he has got tremendous experience. The acting headmaster disclosed that because of his dedication, Mr. Sam Campbell recommended him for further training in special education in the United Kingdom at the University of Birmingham in 1994.

According to Mr. Sandy, since his return he worked amicably with the former headmaster in developing the school. He further disclosed that he sometimes managed the school on his own when the substantive headmaster was unavoidably absent. Based on all this performance and his capability to handle the affairs of the disabled, especially the blind, the former headmaster, Mr. Sam Campbell did not recommend any other person for the job but Mr. A.J. Sandy. That is because he knew and he is only confident that Mr. Sandy will deliver.

The thing that is lacking is that people do not know that Milton Margai School for the blind is a primary school not a secondary school, which means after completion of primary school, students should return to their parents. It is only out of sympathy that the school continues to accommodate students that are in secondary schools, tertiary institutions and university. He further said that the committee felt that it would be better for secondary pupils looked after by their own parents or guardians integrated to society. He disclosed that the administration had been generous over the years by ignoring all this policies and allowed all the secondary and tertiary pupils to stay in the home. Sincere Mr. Sandy is sighted the pupils believe that as a strict man he will implement this policies and that is the reason why a few ex-pupils have resorted to demonstrate against him.

Investigations made by Sierra Express have it that some ex-pupils are still staying in the school and are the ones posing the current problem in the school. As the investigation continues we will continue to update you.
