Human Rights Violation on the Increase in the East End of Freetown

Osman L. Dumbuya of # 36 Bowen Street, Calaba Town, is the latest victim of gross violation of Human Rights. According to police sources, Osman Dumbuya was attacked by his tenant. He received a broken/fractured right arm when issuing an eviction notice to his tenant at the same address. The tenant, Fatmata Kamara was not happy when Mr. Dumbuya issued the notice and for that reason she became aggressive and violent.

On the 6th March this year, Mr. Dumbuya’s right arm was broken/fractured through the violent approach that Fatmata put up by slamming the door of the house at him. Sources in the house revealed that if Mr. Dumbuya had not been rushed to the hospital it could have been fatal.

The matter has attracted the attention of police personnel at the Kissy Police Station so much so that senior officers have vowed to prosecute any such case that is reported at the station. “I am overwhelmed with the rise in violence in this part of the city. I have made my mind to pursue any domestic violence that is reported at the police now,” Mr. A.A. Ngebeh angrily promised our reporter.

It is worth noting that for the past six months domestic violence and other violence are seriously on the rise in the eastern part of the city. Young people have resorted to intimidating and harassing the lives of peaceful citizens with impunity and are let to go free with it.
